Kissimmee is the largest city of Osceola County. The 2010 Census shows a population of 59,682. It is a Principal City of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Florida Metropolitan area with a 2010 total population of 2,134,411.
This area was originally named Allendale, after Confederate Major J. H. Allen who operated the first cargo steamboat along the Kissimmee River – the Mary Belle.
